Access to affordable, quality, and accessible health care promotes the well-being and active participation of people with disabilities in their communities and in the workforce.

The Health Care section offers resources for locating quality health care, including tools for finding doctors and health care facilities, comparing hospitals and obtaining health insurance and prescription drug plans, as well as information on health care programs for veterans and the military community.

In addition, this section offers information on alternatives to institutional care (including home and community-based services), as well as resources on where to find long-term and mental health care services.

Becoming an Involved Health Care Consumer

Places to get information about medical conditions and hospital quality–an important first step in getting better health care. Use this information to ask your doctor, nurse or pharmacist questions about your condition. Becoming more involved in your own health care will help with getting the right treatment at the right time in the right place.
Financial Aid for Health Professions Students & Practitioners

Loans, scholarships and loan re-payment resources for students and practitioners involved in health professions.
Federally-funded health centers care for you, even if you have no health insurance. You pay what you can afford based on your income. There are health centers in most cities and many rural areas.
